Spotlight on Scott

On July 1, 2023, Scott Curtis became LVSC's board president.

LVSC Journey: I first learned about LVSC from tutor Donna Sturm. She was requesting funding for LVSC through Thrivent action team grants and charitable dollar distributions. I had never heard of an organization where tutors volunteered to teach others! She invited me to the annual meeting and told me how good the food was! In 2018 Martha Davis (past President) and Eileen Roan (former Trustee) asked me to join the board.

LVSC Inspirations: Love it when the students speak and give their stories; especially those who have recently become citizens.

Day Job: I provide families with financial planning, advice, and life and health insurance with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (since 2004).

Favorite Quote:  There are two. 1) “Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.” -Jim Carey, and 2) "What you seem to be, be really." -Benjamin Franklin

Favorite Food:  Key lime pie.

Pastimes: Kayaking and woodworking. I’m trying to like golf, but it’s not going very well.

R&R Spot: I’m kind of a homebody. I enjoy spending time at home with my wife Susan. We love going out to eat, or day trips to Princeton or Doylestown. We love art museums.
