Our Students Succeed

Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County provides free, one-to-one and small group tutoring and English conversation groups for adults throughout Somerset County and surrounding communities. Tutors and students arrange the best time and location for their lessons. Tutoring usually takes place at local branches of the Somerset County Library System.

Our confidential, student-centered tutoring program helps adult learners improve their lives and achieve their goals which include:

• Read to their children
• Understand and be understood by others
• Complete job applications
• Get a driver's license
• Become US citizens
• Understand job-related materials
• Talk with children's teachers and help with homework
• Read maps, menus, medicine bottles, and street signs
